Great Backyard Bird Count
Announcement taken from the website for the
Audubon Society of Central Maryland
______________________________________________
Do you enjoy admiring birds in your backyard during the winter? Do you enjoy feeding birds to help nourish them while you get a closer look at their beautiful and diverse colors, shapes and markings? Our friends at the Audubon Society of Central Maryland certainly do. They have recently completed their winter bird seed sale to help raise funds to maintain and enhance their two sanctuary properties here in Frederick County, one near New Market, the other near Mt. Airy. Each provides wildlife habitat and is a great natural resource for birds and other species.
As they suggest, here is a fun activity that you can do with your children, spouse or friend - or on your own! Join the Great Backyard Bird Count, February 16th-19th, 2007. It's fun and helps everyone learn more about birds. For more information, visit www.birdsource.org/gbbc.
Spread the word to your friends and neighbors. These and other volunteer citizen science programs provide information that helps the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and Audubon prioritize their bird conservation activities. Have fun and thanks for helping!
