Evaluating the Effectiveness of Stream
Channel Protection: 2003-2004 Results
__________________________________________________________________
In 2000, the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) adopted new requirements for all developments in the 2000 Maryland Stormwater Design Manual. The Manual was developed in an effort to protect stream channels from the effects of stormwater runoff. MDE now requires Counties to monitor the effectiveness of the standards set forth in the Manual. In order to meet this requirement, Frederick County Government along with one of their consultants, Versar, Inc., began a multi-year study of the Manual in 2003.
Versar has compiled the findings from 2003-2004 into a two page summary report.
